Calibre Watchworks / Movements / Neuchatel

Every tooth counted

An independent watchmaker that builds the movement before the case. The one on this page starts as loose parts and falls into time as you scroll.

Plate 1 / Parts

Six wheels, one balance, a ruby.

Nothing here is bought in. Each wheel is cut, finished and beveled at our own bench, and the jewel is set last, once everything else turns.

Plate 2 / Mesh

Teeth meet, and nothing slips.

A gear train is a promise about ratio. Thirty teeth drive fifteen, and the little wheel turns twice, every time, for the next fifty years.

Plate 3 / Beat

Then it breathes.

The balance wheel swings back and forth twenty-eight thousand eight hundred times an hour. That is the sound you hear when you hold it to your ear.

Time, cut by hand.

A rotating cage, built for the person who likes to watch.

Five watchmakers, one bench.

The workshop is a single room above a bakery in Neuchatel. Every movement is signed by the person who finished it, and every service comes back to that person.
